My top 5 Horror Films

I’ve been told twice in my life now that I look like a heroine of a horror film. I thought it was a coincidence, but it just dawned on me that I love to say (and mean) that if I was in a horror flick I’d be the last one surviving (due to my paranormal intuition, scrappy spirit and dumb luck). Perhaps this is a reoccurring thread in my life.
So I figured I may as well do a blog post on it. I have a love/hate relationship with horror and psychological thrillers, but mostly love. Especially for these ones.
Order is random. Or is it?
My Top 5:
Disturbia
Is Shia off the map now? Let’s put him back on, for this movie. This was the first film that made me love horror. It lured me in with its rom com facade. By the time my friend and I were relaxed and laughing was when shit suddenly took a turn for the worst. Disturbia indeed.
The Shining
I thought I hated this movie but the universe kept pushing it my way. Now I (kind of) love it. At the very least I deeply respect it. Also think it’s the most quotable horror film of all time. I mean redrum?? Come on. Though I think my favorite is still all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.

Silence of the Lambs
Could you even take this blog post seriously if I didn’t include this one? It’s just an all around great movie. Acting and script are incredible. Jodie Foster and Anthony Hopkins both won best actor /actress oscars. According to AI, this movie massed 71 awards. Even if you don’t like horror, just watch. For a psych nerd like me, it had my head spinning. I desperately want to watch it again (who’s down?)
Heretic -
I hate to love this one but it’s modern day brilliance. And played on my deepest fears (being trapped and dangerous men). Great casting. A24 you did good on this one. I’ll never listen to that RadioheadCreep song in the same way again. But I am taking back blueberry pie. I think. Maybe don’t offer it up anytime soon. Always love an ambiguous ending. 🦋
Cabin in the Woods
duh. Had to include this one. The ending is perfection. Science experiment gone terribly wrong. All the monsters let loose? Almost everyone dies? They’ve got all the tropes and it’s fantastic. Though I will be staying in a cabin in the woods in Finland next month so maybe won’t watch in the near future.
Hope you enjoyed reading this as much as I enjoyed writing it ^^. Yes I am stalling working on my novel.
Special shoutouts to the Exorcist and the Ring. If this was a list of 7, they would have been in there. Honestly both hit a little too close to home. The Exorcist soundtrack is chef’s kiss.
Note~If you put Rosemary’s Baby on around me I will leave the room.
That’s all for now…
You tell me. Would I make a good horror heroine?

K bye

Killer blog post!
